Candace Clausen, MBA, CADAC, ICADC - Executive Director Candace Clausen, MBA, CADAC, ICADC - Executive Director
Candace has worked passionately in the recovery, behavioral health, and health care field since 1976.  She started her career as a clinician working with behavioral health clients.  Her Directorships have given her expertise in all operational aspects of health care.  “Because of my passion I could never think of working any other career, after all these years I still feel dedicated to health care.”

Ed Terrazas, CSAC, ICS, Clinical Director
Ed is the clinical director at Burkwood and he has a team of clinicians and support staff who provide services and counseling 7 days a week.  He has developed and provides supervision over the residential program which includes individual counseling, groups, specialty programming and therapeutic recreational activities. He is part of the Burkwood Management Team.  “I look forward to coming to work each day and that keeps my motivation and interest high in helping others”.

Mary Hansen, BA/BM, CPC-Business Manager
Mary is the business manager for Burkwood. She supervises the business office and medical records. Mary also oversees Burkwood's Human Resource Department. She is a certified coder and has an extensive background in billing, insurance and government payers. "I like being part of the team at Burkwood helping our clients achieve a better life".


Kathleen Beltrame, MS, LPC Kathleen Beltrame, MS, LPC - co-occurring Counselor
Kathleen is a licensed professional counselor working with our clients who have both mental health and substance abuse issues.  She is certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She is a Level II EMDR therapist and is trained in DBT. She provides individual and group counseling. Her specialties include EMDR, addressing grief and loss, trauma, and other underlying co-occurring issues that compound the problems of substance abuse and dependence.

Kristie Merth, CSAC, ICS Kristie Simmons, CSAC, ICST Substance Abuse Counselor
Kristie is a clinical substance abuse counselor and licensed through the State of Wisconsin. She is a warm and compassionate counselor whose clinical skills and calming attitude have been instrumental in the success of her clients.  She provides groups, individual counseling, didactic lectures, therapeutic recreational programs and general support to our clients and her colleagues.

David Maki, BS, SAC-Substance Abuse Counselor
David is a substance abuse counselor at Burkwood.  He specializes in the Native American Community. He provides groups, individual counseling, didactic lectures, specialty groups, therapeutic recreational activities and general support to our clients and his colleagues.  David works closely with our Native American consultant offering spiritual and individual counseling experiences. “My passion is motivational therapy and I like counseling at Burkwood”.

Dawn Anderson, SAC-Substance Abuse Counselor
Dawn is a substance abuse counselor at Burkwood. She is a caring, considerate and informative counselor who is compassionate about her work.  She is pro-active with helping her clients understand their recovery process as they go through the program.  She provides groups, individual counseling, didactic lectures, specialty groups, therapeutic recreational activities and general support to our clients and her colleagues.

Betsy Froemming – RN
Betsy heads up the nursing department at Burkwood.  She oversees the health, wellness and medication monitoring for all Burkwood Clients. Her expertise and organizational skills help our Clients to see how their health has been affected by their substance abuse and she is instrumental in the Clients understanding their psychiatric medications. 


Murri Frasl Murri Frasl - Intake Coordinator
Murri is the coordinator of our intake and admission department.  She is a skilled clinician who has a special ability to make the new clients feel comfortable. Her expertise and compassion gives those new clients a sense of trust.  She is also provides oversight with our drivers and housekeeper to help in the flow of admissions, bed assignments, and driving needs.
