Veterans Affairs Program

Burkwood Treatment Center is proud to provide United States military veterans with the substance use disorder care they need through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network (CCN).

What Is the Community Care Network?

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network (CCN) was created in 2018, offering a link between the VA and healthcare providers across the United States.

The goal of the VA is to help veterans receive the behavioral healthcare they need without delay. The CCN allows veterans to find treatment at any VA facility or other authorized provider near them.

The providers that make up the CCN have been thoroughly vetted and are located across several different United States regions and territories.

The VA has contracts with multiple third-party administrators (TPAs) to develop the regions and ensure quality services and improved communication. Optum Public Sector Solutions Inc. and TriWest Healthcare Alliance serve five of the six regions in the United States, while the sixth region, which includes American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marina Islands, is still uncontracted.

Optum

Burkwood Treatment Center is located in a region that is served by Optum Public Sector Solutions Inc., otherwise known as Optum.

Optum received a contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2018, allowing it to begin serving as the TPA for three of the Community Care Network’s regions.

Today, Optum serves Regions 1, 2, and 3 of the CCN, which includes the central, northeastern, and southeastern areas of the United States, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Navigating the CCN

We understand that navigating the Community Care Network can be overwhelming at first. At Burkwood Treatment Center, we want to ensure that military veterans and their family members fully understand the treatment options available to them.

Our compassionate team is here to help military veterans navigate the CCN and answer any questions they might have.
